Sunburn Relief Solutions
In cases where sunburn has already set in, we recommend you the following:
Take a cold shower as soon as possible!
This will help calm the skin and cool it down. If a shower is not an option, use a damp towel on a sunburnt area.
1. Apply soothing gels
Aloe Vera gel is a natural and readily available solution for soothing and calming the hot sensation and the redness associated with sunburned skin. We recommend applying them after every instance where your skin has been exposed to abrasion or the elements.
JustLife Aloe Vera Gel is our in-house gel, 99% aloe vera, vegan-friendly and absorbs quickly for fast relief. Sterex Natural Aloe Vera gel has been created to be suitable after waxing, sunbathing, and general moisturising.
2. Start a skin recovery regimen
Starting a skin recovery regimen will be highly beneficial as it diminishes the chances of long-term marks, pigmentation and, in some of the worst cases, scars. Most products created for post-treatment care will be the ideal candidates for the job, as they soothe and reintroduce nourishing elements to the skin; in this case, we recommend the following products.
Dermaceutic K Ceutic Accelerates epidermal restoration, nourishes and firms the skin. Boosts the skin’s recovery and provides optimal moisturising, soothing, firming and superior skin comfort. Dermaceutic Regan Ceutic contains a combination of ingredients designed to repair (glycoprotein and hyaluronic acid), moisturise (shea butter), protect (vitamin E and SPF 50), and soothe (K Complex). It also provides complete sun protection (SPF 50 - UVA/UVB barriers). Medik8 Ultimate Recovery is an intensely rich, restorative cream for dry, compromised and post-treatment skin. Deeply hydrating and comforting, it creates a protective barrier to shield skin from everyday irritants while keeping moisture locked in tight. Instant Effects PM Recovery is charged with Adenosine Triphosphate and patented OX2 Technology, working in synergy with your skin’s metabolism to renew your skin cells and turn back time on your skin.
3. Daily use of SPF Moisturiser
Keeping up a healthy moisturising habit is highly recommended on a day-to-day basis, but even more so in the case, as sunburned skin is more susceptible to being damaged again. Be careful not to apply any moisturisers or cream containing anti-ageing acids, peels or exfoliators. Our recommendations:
Cerave AM Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF 25 is a lightweight, moisturising face lotion with broad-spectrum SPF25, for all-day hydration for normal to dry skin. Neostrata Clarify Sheer Hydration SPF 40 is a lightweight, non-greasy daily moisturiser provides UVA and UVB sun protection for oily and blemish-prone skin. CULT51 Day Cream SPF 15 with its potent power works with your skin’s personalised natural renewal processes to restore and reveal supreme youthful and luminous beauty. MEDIK8 Advanced Day Total Protect SPF30 is an intensely hydrating SPF 30 moisturiser is the most advanced Medik8 day cream ever.
3. Wear SPF Make-up
In cases when having your sunburn displayed in its full glory is not an option, make-up could be a life-saver if the right one is used. Be sure to pick a breathable foundation and, if possible, one that has an SPF formula. Our recommendation:
Colorescience Total Eye 3-in-1 Renewal Therapy SPF 35 treats your eyes to visibly improve the appearance of dark circles, puffiness, fine lines, and wrinkles while protecting the delicate eye area against photoaging with 100% SPF 35 mineral sunscreen.
Oxygenetix Foundation SPF 30 effectively covers and helps to heal skin, enriched with Aloe Vera, the revolutionary Ceravitae Complex and it also has an SPF 30.
Oxygenetix Acne Foundation SPF 30 is formulated with Ceravitae Complex to increase the skin’s oxygen uptake, this foundation also contains 2% Salicylic Acid, Aloe Vera and Vitamin E, and SPF30.
