Which Toner Is Better?

Traditional vs. Clinically Approved: Toner

If you are from a middle eastern background, you are probably familiar with the ‘take an egg’ phrase! For whatever concern you may have, your mother or grandmother would suggest an egg to rub it on the problematic area. You may think that's gross! Let us tell you: Most of the time it's even completely ineffective!

If the traditional or DIY remedies were 100% effective, then we wouldn't need the scientists, dermatologists or medicines. We could heal everything with an egg!

But, what are the differences?

Traditional:

A non-scientific, non-chemical treatment that you apply at home with products you already have in your kitchen.

Clinically Proven/Tested:

"Clinically approved means somewhere (usually a clinic), a doctor has tested the product on someone and said it's safe to use"
In general, it means that the product has been through clinical trials and has been tested on a large sample of volunteers (of course human volunteers) and showed effective results.

Part 1: Toners

Toners are skin cleansers that helps to clean the skin, remove excess dirt, oil and dead cells. Toners used to have alcohol and a sticky texture, however, now they have better non-alcoholic formulas for all kind of skin types and different purposes. You should apply toner with a cotton pad to your face and neck after washing or removing your makeup and before applying your moisturiser.

Traditionally:

Rosewater

Rosewater (smells incredible), is an ancient remedy to cure Rosacea and eczema as it contains anti-inflammatory properties. The benefits of using rosewater are:

  • It helps maintain your skin’s pH balance

  • It hydrates and moisturises your skin

  • Reduce sensitivity and redness of irritated skin

Use a cotton pad to apply it your face and neck. Make sure you use pure rosewater.

If you have normal/combination skin you can use the Moisture Balance Toner.

*Bear in mind that clinically tested/proven doesn’t necessarily mean that it has been tested on Animals. Hopefully, most companies are now joining the Anti-Animal cruelty movement.
